Beatrix and Exhale – Crunches and Brunches

Crunches and Brunches: Chicago

Beatrix Streeterville Brunch

Beatrix River North has been a favorite of mine since I moved to Chicago – for just about everything. Fresh pressed juice? Yep. Coffee? Delicious. Brunch menu that please adventurous and pick easy alike? Check.

With the new Beatrix location in Streeterville, the restaurant can accommodate even more hungry people. This location is tucked away from Michigan Avenue and features a spacious patio out front.

Their weekend brunch menu is always a crowd-pleaser, with sweet and savory options that range from fairly healthy to completely indulgent. My favorite part? The various mimosas with their own freshly pressed juice. I chose the blue mimosa, which features blueberry + white grape + basil juice.

If the second restaurant opening in Streeterville helped to disperse some of the usual crowds waiting outside the Beatrix River North location, it wasn’t apparent on this Sunday morning. Snag a reservation via Open Table for minimum wait times!

Exhale Yoga

I finally broke down and purchased Class Pass. I know, I know, I’m late to the party.  One of the studios available through Class Pass is Exhale. Located in Gold Coast (with a second location in Evanston), this studio is a spa + yoga + barre + cardio powerhouse combo.

Exhale Spa and Fitness Studio in Chicago

From the minute you walk in the door, you feel the spa vibes. There are neutral tones and natural elements everywhere, plus amenities like robes, slippers, a steam room, and magazines to make your visit as relaxing as possible.

I opted to try a typical vinyasa class for my first visit to Exhale. The studio is refreshingly free of mirrored walls, allowing you to focus more on how the class feels rather than looks. While the view out the window isn’t especially great (hello there, brick wall), the instructor was thorough, sweet, and helpful.

I’d love to go back to Exhale to try other classes – and live in that steam room all winter. If you haven’t tried Class Pass yet, use this link to get $20 off your first month! The program is in tons of cities, and allows you to try out all sorts of new classes and studios. Love.
